Fall Preparations!

 

Request clergy (Deacon Judi has traditionally done it for us, and was the first to recommend its use) to do the Blessing of the Backpacks for the first Sunday of the school year, at the time of birthday blessings.

Works best if children bring their backpacks to class that morning, set at entryway, and arrange for kids to exit the Worship Center/Upper Room WEARING their backpacks.  Minimizes service disruption.  Coordinator prepares a small bag with small notebooks, pencils, inexpensive token back-to-school gifts.

 

Ice Cream Social is hosted the first Sunday of Christian Formation, too, during Coffee Hour.  Pre-arrange for taking that Sunday with the Coffee Hour scheduler (as of this writing, Dorothy O.)  Arrange for teachers to bring various needed items, and to assist at coffeehour cleanup.

 

2007: used 2 five quart pails of ice cream, one chocolate, one vanilla.  Various toppings for sundae bar.
